Yax Tun's famous diamond sandpaper / sanding cloth. These are the same ones we use in our jadeite carving workshop in Chiapas. Each sheet contains a matrix of dots that have had diamond electroplated with nickel bonded to them. This ensures the diamond fragments are securely affixed to the surface and will not "wear off" easily. Due to the nature of the dot matrix on flexible cloth and the electroplated diamond, we get a ground breaking material that solves so many of the problems we encounter while attempting to sand and polish curved surfaces of particularly hard stones and materials. These sanding cloths can be used as-is to hand-sand literally any material we have encountered on earth.
Applications::
-Hand sanding gemstones and hard materials
-Cut small circles and affix to motor tool mandrel for high speed sanding-Cut small pieces and adhere them to the tips of custom shaped dowels for sanding fine details
-Wet or dry use for general and fine detail sanding and polishing
-Practically any sanding application where one wishes to eliminate the headache of changing silicon carbide sandpaper each time the grit rubs off of the base paper/cloth.
These sanding cloths, when used properly, will withstand the test of time.
To make the best of them, avoid making sharp creases in the cloth. The diamond dots are quite resistant, but it is a flexible material after all. Folding or creasing the cloth will increase the probability of the diamond dots being forced off the sheet or catching on something while sanding. if used properly, these diamond sanding cloths will last the equivalent of countless sheets of silicon carbide wet/dry sandpaper.
